Letter from an Iguana

Kurt Vonnegut SignatureWhen Kurt Vonnegut declined visiting New York City’s Xavier High School in 2006, he didn’t respond by email, phone or text. Instead he mailed an entrancing letter that could be kept and framed.

“Practice any art, music, singing, dancing, acting, drawing, painting, sculpting, poetry, fiction, essays, reportage, no matter how well or badly, not to get money and fame, but to experience becoming, to find out what’s inside you, to make your soul grow.”

To read the rest of the letter (and find out why I called Vonnegut an Iguana), see Rebecca Klein’s article in the Huffington Post.
